My third interview
Prepare the interview
For the third interview, I followed the same interview objectives but I slightly change my interview questions to be closer the native custom in Japan. The reason for the change is because I think I didn’t collect too much information about their lives here. What’s more, I don’t wanna mention too much about the earthquake over there, cause I think we can get more information online.
I made fully preparation for the last interview as usual and conducted the interview in the same place Tatuso Fuyu.
The third interviewee Fuyu is also a Japanese guy. For a 22 years old man, he looks younger than his age and he is from Tsushima, Aichi. His city is in the middle south in Japan so there is not a hugh influence of his hometown. It’s Fuyu’s second year here, and his major is accounting.
I picked up the study room like last time for my interview. I brought some candies with me this time, because the interview was on 5:00 pm, in April 2nd. So both of us had a little bit hungry, some candies can prove energy and makes me more friendly to him.
Description of the interview
Fuyu is a nice guy and his aim came to US is that he wants to have his own company when he goes back to Japan. His interest is doing motor sports. In my mind I think 1/3 Japanese guys likes racing or drifting games. He told me the most important reason for him came to here is because here has a long winter and he can has half a year’s off. Otherwise he will put all his time on racing.
Since both of us has the same hobby, so during the interview I put some questions about our hobby. And two of us are pretty enjoy the conversation, it was not like an interview, just like a talk between close friends. As an international I remember many similar situations that I faced. Especially when I heard he didn’t want to leave his friends and the land he born in I was deeply toughed and same situation for me. I remember how struggle before I made the decision. I understood that I would have to face difficulties and suffer huge homesick but I still came here. The thing made me to reduce some homesick is driving around and hang out with my car club’s friends. So for us the motor sports helped us gained a numbers of friends.

Interviewer: Mengfei Xu
Interviewee: Tatuso Fuyu.
nterview date: April, 2nd, 2011
Interview place: Study room of library in SCSU
1. Xu: Hello, my name is Mengfei Xu and I am Chinese. What’s your name?
Fuyu: My name is Tatuso Fuyu. And I am 22 years old, I am from Japanese. Tsushima, Aichi is my hometown
2. Xu: So the did the earthquake affect your city?
Fuyu: Not so much, we are in the middle south of Japan.
3. Xu: I am so glad to here that and wish Japanese people can rebuild your home town. Thanks for coming today and can I have a half an hour interview with you? My aim is to know some about you and the life of you over here.
Fuyu: Sure. My hobby is very simply, I like racing, car racing.
4. Xu: Oh! Really? Cause I like car as well and I do some modifications on cars.
Fuyu: Cool! Then we can be good friends.
5. Xu: Of course! How many years you have been here and what’s your major?
Fuyu: Well, This is my second year here. I am coming for accounting major. Because I want to have my own business and learning accounting can help me to know the accounting of my company wether is good or not.
6.Xu: I see. Then can you tell me what do you usually do when you are free.
Fuyu: En, after school I always go to my buddy--Audi Riza’s shop to modify my car, as you know car is my girlfriend, I take care of her everyday.
7.Xu: How come I never see you, because I am Audi’s roommate. So do you enjoy the winter here?
Fuyu: Maybe we often went there in different time. I do like the snow here, you know St.Cloud is a quite city, not so much noise and the people here is very kind and nice to foreigners. The most important reason to choose st.cloud is there is a winter then I can have half year off, otherwise I won’t have time to focus on my study. I am the guy who would rather put all the time on cars.
8. Xu: Yeah, So am I! What if when you 40 years old, then you have money, will you open your own shop or something else relate to cars?
Fuyu: I will have my own garage, I don’t want to relate my hobby with business, then it will mass it up. Commercial things should be separate with hobby.
9. Xu: Ok, but for me I want to have a shop and hopefully I can make it world famous. Would you like tell me except cars what else do you do?
Fuyu: Normally I stay at home, sometimes I will hang out with my friends go shopping in cities. I have 2 months in Japan every year. I do some simple works in my father’s company try to get used to the environment of doing business.
10. Xu: That’s pretty good. And I next time if we have some other events of racing I will call you and we can go together! Thank you for your time and nice to meet you!
Fuyu: Sure! And I am also glad to meet you.
